DAY SEVENTEEN
Hey lovelies!
Today's post is a little different to what I'm usually used to but I have always loved quotes and the impact that they have on my life. I find it so strange but so cool that there is always a quote that suits my mood, my emotions and my situation no matter the circumstances! I have put together a few Autumnal quotes that will hopefully get you in the mood to immerse yourself in the season. There are quite a few literary ones in here but, what can I say, the inner English Literature nerd in me who loves some existential wording can't help but include them!
So if you're anything like me, you'll love these 10 quotes that I chose for you:
1. "I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as Autumnal sunshine by staying in the house" - Nathaniel Hawthorne
2. "Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile" - William Cullen Bryant
3. "Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall" - F. Scott Fitzgerald
4. "Fall has always been my favourite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale" - Lauren DeStefano
5. "Delicious Autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns" - George Eliot
6. "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers" - Anne of Green Gables
7. "I can smell autumn dancing in the breeze. The sweet chill of pumpkin and crisp sunburnt leaves" - Unknown
8. "Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower" - Albert Camus
9. "I loved Autumn, the one season of the year that God seemed to have put there just for the beauty of it" - Lee Maynard
10. "I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion" - Henry David Thoreau
There you have it! I would love if you could let me know which one is your favourite quote from the list above and if you have some of your own, then be sure to leave a comment down below and share them with me!

DAY SIXTEEN
Hey lovelies!
I have had such a wonderful day so far because aside from the life admin I've had to complete, I was able to spend a couple of hours walking this wooded trail (above), sitting in the fresh air and listening to some of my recent favourite podcasts. I don't think that I have a had a more successful and relaxing solo walk than this one in quite a while!
My obsession for podcasts has grown extensively over the last few months and not only have they given me the desire to start up one of my own but they have helped me to stay more positive, more open to new ideas and, as a result, they have made me much, much happier! Now before I start chatting away, I wanted to put in a little side note: if you're wondering about where to go for all of your podcast needs, I recommend checking out the free Castbox app which I use all the time! So get downloading and in the meantime...
Here are my top 5 favourite podcasts for this season!

Here are my top 5 favourite podcasts for this season!
1 // Kalyn's Coffee Talk by Kalyn Nicholson: As some of you may know, Kalyn is my go-to person whenever I need help getting organised, planning my life or getting the motivation I need throughout any rough period that I have. She is so sweet and thankfully, with this podcast, she will always be on hand to provide you with some more of her weekly wisdom and give you the boost you need to tackle any problems you may be having mentally, emotionally or personally with other individuals you know in your life. If you love her YouTube Coffee Talk videos then you will for sure love her podcasts!
2 // We're The Ladies by Carrie Murray & Julia Giaimo: After watching these lovely ladies on YouTube for quite a while now, I have recently got into their podcast that covers all things music, TV, mental health and life related. I really think that their podcast perfectly captures their hilarious friendship and allows them to be witty, sincere and so, so funny whilst talking about some of the more serious topics in life as well as some of the less serious topics like the narrator from Jane The Virgin, which was such a funny conversation! Please give this podcast a go, you'll be better off for it!
3 // The Poorly Planned Podcast by Alex Centomo, Dan Jensen & Tim Jensen: Now, could you think of a better trio?! I honestly love how casual and cool their conversations are throughout this podcast and I especially love the fact that it makes you feel as if you're having a good ole' chat with some of your best friends; this is probably where the idea of it being a "poorly planned podcast" comes from. Alex, Dan, and Tim make you feel so comfortable and give off that "hey let's sit down, get comfy and have a chat about life" vibe and I am living for it! I think that, sometimes, we need to have people to listen to, individuals that may not know you personally but can offer you advice using their own experiences. There's no judgement in this podcast, just real opinions and real experiences!
4 // Serious Influence by Blogosphere: This is a must for all of you bloggers and influencers out there! I have wanted something like this for such a long time and it's so great to see a brand put all the juicy answers to some of our agonising questions all onto one handy-dandy place. I especially love the episode with Victoria Magrath because not only is she the sweetest thing ever but she tells you about her honest experience in the blogging industry without being arrogant or giving you the impression that she is better than everyone else - we definitely need more Victoria Magrath's in this world! Have a listen and let me know what you think!
5 // The Female Struggle Is Real by Emma Jo Real-Davies: Finally we have someone who is brutally honest about the real pain of being a female! What I mean by this is: all the things that we tend not to talk about in a very open manner but want to scream out to the rest of the world so that maybe someone will understand or maybe, just maybe, there might be someone out there who feels the exact same struggle that we feel. This podcast is not only sympathetic but so incredibly empathetic and you need to check it out right now!

Be sure to let me know in the comment section down below if you're loving podcasts this season! If you are, which ones are you listening to at the moment? Any of my choices? I would love to get into some more, so let's chat!

Self care is a VERY important thing in life and whether you choose to see the little things that give you some "you time" away from others or that make you you feel better as self care, it just makes me happy knowing that at least you're doing it!
I was recently involved in a Twitter blogger chat on GRLPOWR CHAT with Beka Laing as the host, and was intrigued by the topic: mental health. This is by no means a strange topic for a blogger chat but evidently one that needs to be talked about. Some of you are probably sick of hearing about mental health and whilst I understand that there can be a lot of generalising of symptoms and a frustratingly casual throwing around of words such as "depression", it affects so many people and is something that does not discriminate.
I believe that self care is more than just aimlessly watching a movie by yourself here and there or buying yourself some food that you like. Self care is doing something with the intention of benefiting your health and well-being, either mentally, physically or emotionally even if it's not all at the same time. Your mind and body deserve to be soothed and improved! So, the more you find something that can genuinely make you happy in that moment or that can give you a break from the stresses and worries of life, the better you will feel both inside and out.
Today's post is about helping you to find what works for YOU. I want to help in any way that I can and if that means simply serving you with a reminder to look after yourself or being more proactive by providing you with some ideas on what you could do then that's what I'll do! I can just be your starting point and after that, it's all you! Self care doesn't always have to be this scary forced thing but at the start, you need to be a little more conscious of what you're doing to help your mental health and physical health before it becomes solid and second nature.
I've split up self care into three separate areas as listed before: mental, physical and emotional. The first and last may sound very similar to one another but they both encompass slightly different tasks as you'll see in a minute. I have included five activities for each section to get you started but if you want some more ideas then feel free to check out Blogtober Day Two where I review a 30 day self care challenge created by Balanced Fit Mama Bird.
MENTAL HEALTH 💭
- Journal it up and write about how you're feeling

DAY FOURTEEN
Hey lovelies!
Keeping goals in mind can often be one of the hardest things to do. I find myself getting so excited by the thought that I can write this really long list of everything I want to accomplish but get a bit side-tracked when it comes to actually ticking them off, even though that's probably the best part!
Blogtober has helped me in several ways this season because, not only has it manifested this desire and need to get a post up everyday at around 5pm, but it has also helped to keep me on track. I love to publish new blog posts and for some reason, any other time of the year where I have needed to publish them, I haven't had that huge push to get them done. I'm not sure if that makes me a bad blogger but it sure doesn't make me a bad person. I'm human and I have had so many things go on this year that have prevented me from posting new content, including finishing university and having a holiday with very limited Wi-Fi for an extensive amount of time - seriously on two ends of the spectrum here I know but it's all happened!
I want to be able to perfectly balance a home/personal life and a blogging/work life in the most seamless way possible. I know that this can take time but I thought, what better way of starting than to write a list of my Autumn goals - ones that are simple but manageable in the grand scheme of things! Now, before you read on, I just wanted to clarify that this list and my bucketlist are two seperate things as the latter is about making the most of Autumn whereas today's list focuses more on organisation and productivity!
So without further ado, here are my top 15 goals for this season...
1. FINISH BLOGTOBER!
2. Get in touch with friends at least twice a week
3. Read 3 books by the end of November
4. Complete an online course
5. Spend some time up in Central London getting fresh content
6. Go out with someone I love every week
7. Develop my Photoshop skills further
8. Make more chatty InstaStories
9. Exercise at least three times a week
10. Invest myself in blogging opportunities
11. Go on more trail walks/hikes
12. Make two videos for Instagram
13. Complete a fashion photoshoot each week
14. Get posts ready for when Blogtober finishes
15. Do something everyday to make me happy!
What are some of your goals this Autumn? Are you well on your way to completing them or need a little motivation? Let's chat in the comment section down below and help each other out!
XOXO
Saturday, 13 October 2018
Hey lovelies!
We all know that with Autumn comes the dry skin and the oh so unflattering dry, brittle hair that is induced by the cold weather. So in today's post, I'm going to help you with one of those - sorting out and protecting your hair from future seasonal damage!
I have been wanting to talk about these products for such a long time now but I never got the chance to put it all into a post like this. To clarify, I won these two Mane n Tail products plus their Hair Strengthener Spray through a Blogosphere Twitter Competition that also included a copy of the latest Blogosphere magazine. I mean, I never win anything that I enter so you can obviously understand just how shocking it was to be told that I was picked, I was ecstatic!
First things first, as with everything, I wanted to make sure that I gave the shampoo and conditioner a fair shot at showing me its full potential before I decided to come on here and rant or rave about it depending on the outcome. I have been using both of these products for almost three months now and I think that it's safe to say that it has managed to keep my hair looking super healthy, shiny and nourished despite the sun exposure from my four week holiday in August and the changing weather between this season and the last.
I must admit, when I first read up about the Mane n Tail brand, I did find it quite strange and unusual that you could use the products on both humans and animals, especially horses! I mean, you wouldn't eat your dog's food so why would you use your dog's shampoo, in the same token that you wouldn't do the same with a horse, are you following?...Mind-boggled! Thankfully when you're able to overcome this concept, which should be quite easy considering the wonders it can do for your hair, then you'll get to loving this product pretty quickly.
I absolutely adore the smell and although it may not remind you of your typical fruity hair care products, it lasts throughout the day which I love! I tend to dislike products that have scents that start off bold but fizzle out before you've even left the house because it just gets me thinking, why was it there in the first place?! Anywho, I am obsessed with seeing the results this shampoo and conditioner alone have given me. My hair is incredibly smooth and you can really feel the effect when you've brushed it through because it's so silky!
I know for a fact that I will definitely be using these products more in the future! They have given me a lot more confidence with my hair and have helped to maintain the health of my hair in between cuts so, even if I'm late getting in my next appointment, it won't matter at all!

if you're looking for some extra smoothness, invest in a WetBrush

P.S. Two extra details for your information: 1 - The Mane n Tail brand owner Straight Arrow does not test on animals, and 2 - their products are safe to use on both humans and animals.

DAY TWELVE
Hey lovelies!
I cannot believe that I am almost halfway through Blogtober, I honestly don't know how I've managed it! Nevertheless, I have loved providing you all with so much new content for the Autumn season, so much so that I have had to deal with glitter leaving its trace absolutely EVERYWHERE just for ONE Halloween look so fingers crossed that you're excited to see that at the end of this month!
Today, I bring you another Autumn makeup look, but this time it is one dedicated to those beauties who love to look good without having to put in too much effort. You may notice, from the product description, that this look is basically 90% Makeup Revolution, 5% other brands and then 5% pure sass (hoop life) but I really can't help it! Makeup Revolution has been my tried and true favourite brand for such a long time now and I would happily give up my Mini Rolls (only for a day mind you) to get my hands on as many Makeup Revolution products as I can! I feel that they always offer you the best dupes to some of the cult faves that have stuck with us in the beauty blogging community and rarely ever disappoint! God do I love them!
This look is inspired by all those beautiful light rusty brown-orange shades you find in Autumn foliage and incorporates a little bit of that plum goodness that gives your overall makeup that romantic feel on those foggy, cold days. I loved the way that this look turned out and I can't wait to create some more just like it, do you think that I should go for deeper shades next time? Let me know what you think in the comment section down below and tell me if you're channeling those quick makeup routines at this time of year, what shades are you using?
