Edinburgh, Scotland

I spent a long weekend in Edinburgh, exploring the local area and embracing the Scottish culture that presented itself loud and proud to my innocent eyes. One of my dreams is to travel all over the world (isn’t that everyone’s dream?!) and there is something about discovering new cultures and seeing new places that gets me really excited!!

Edinburgh was beautiful and the traditional Scottish way did not fail to impress me! The university in Edinburgh was having its graduation on the Saturday so there were bagpipes playing and lots of people walking around and enjoying the windy, yet sunny day. The best part of the whole trip was coming out from a lovely courtyard to find a bride and groom coming out of the church after their wedding ceremony and the bagpipes were playing and it was just incredible! Weirdly enough, I have never been to a wedding and although I wasn’t exactly part of it here, the feeling of just seeing the bride and groom looking unbelievably happy was enough to send me into a state of giddiness.

Edinburgh Castle was stunning and allowed me to see the whole of the city in all its glory! I had a great time wandering around the streets, being creeped out by the man with no face (*shivers*) I remember walking past this street performer completely forgetting that all he had for a face was a pair of sunglasses and a hat to top it off…wow, it was crazy!

I definitely recommend travelling to Edinburgh, especially if you want to experience its great history and typical Scottish culture. Everything is in close proximity and the view from Edinburgh Castle is wonderful!!

Enjoy the pictures!!

#Motivation Monday – Meeting The New Ones!!

…And by new ones I mean new humans - which you’ve never met before.

I recently had to go to an event that involved meeting new people, mostly of my age, and having to introduce myself to them as well as to the leader in charge. I have to say, even though I handled it well and managed to get through it in one piece, I still had that moment of “oh no, they’re going to be so much better than me!” or “what if they don’t like me?!” – It is these annoying, little thoughts that I have that leave me feeling overly nervous and just plain scared!!

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes these feelings can push you to go further because you want to feel like you can work through those emotions and this can be good. I remember just sitting there, most likely looking composed on the outside, but I could slowly feel my leg begin to shake and for some crazy, odd reason my teeth were chattering – not visibly though, thankfully!! I thought to myself “it seriously can’t be that cold in here, the guy just shut the window, pull yourself together woman!!!”

I did manage to pull myself together, but that feeling of intimidation still did not budge but I thought as long as I contribute, I can show that I’m just as worthy, just as good and just as human (it was by this point that I had calmed myself down and began to act normally)!

Feeling intimidated is one of the worst things because you doubt and put yourself down for no reason at all!! The people sitting in the same room as you and looking as if they know everything are the exact same people who have travelled from a different part of the country and are therefore in the same position as you. They have probably never had to participate in something so formal and nor have you, so don’t automatically think that they know better or feel any better than you!

Never let your opinions of others overshadow your greatness and your success; you are just as worthy as the people you view as beautiful or clever, never think otherwise!

Mwah!!

Milkmaid Braids and Denim Shirts!

I had been thinking about posting a tutorial on this hairstyle for quite a while and so I finally decided to do it! This look is not only easy and effortless but seriously takes no time at all, especially if you are confident with braiding your hair. If you want to recreate this look then please read on:
  1. Start off by brushing your hair and parting it down the middle from the front to the back.
  2. Separate the two sides and braid each normally (three-strand braid), tying them off at the ends with an elastic.
  3. Then simply take one of the braids and place it across your head, pinning it in place as you go.
  4. Repeat step 3 with the other braid and voilà you’re done my lovely!!
  5. *OPTIONAL* If you want, pull some strands of hair out at the front and wherever else you feel comfortable, to mess it up a bit and frame your face.
I hope that you liked this post and enjoy the pictures!

XOXO

Oh The Stress!

Lately I have been feeling kind of stressed, this year is a big year for me and I am honestly not prepared for what is to come. Stress is the worst thing and pretty much everyone feels it, just to a different degree or intensity and unlike some I tend not to handle it too well. I often end up panicking too much or think that there is no way out and of course this is ridiculous because in most cases, for me anyway, there is always a solution or a way of overcoming an issue.

One of the worst things is feeling as if you can’t talk to anybody, as if there is not one person out there that can possibly feel what you are feeling or that can possibly help you to sort it out. Trust me when I say this, there is no point in holding everything in just to make everyone believe that you’re the strongest person in the world. We all know that perfection does not exist and so it’s not mentally or physically possible for flaws and worries to not exist – we have imperfections and that’s not a bad thing. You should never feel as if you have to hold it together all of the time. We are human for goodness sake!! We’re allowed to breathe and take time for ourselves!

If you’re feeling stressed, talk it out with someone or if you feel as if those around you won’t understand, then write it down just so that you can get it out of your system and look back at it and maybe that way, by seeing what the problem is, you can find a solution.

Some suggest that you should turn that feeling of stress into a positive emotion by doing something productive to make you feel as if you’re making progress – and by the way, this doesn’t mean working yourself into the ground to convince yourself that things will get better!!

I hope that you can find a way of easing your stress using the tips mentioned before and if all else fails just remember…“stressed spelled backwards is desserts”!

ENJOY!!
